Since February 2009, Francisco Martín-Recuerda is Project Manager and Researcher in the Ontology Engineering Group. This group belongs to the Department of AI of the Faculty of Informatics at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM).

Before joined the OEG, Francisco was PhD candidate in the Knowledge Representation working group which was led by Professor Ian Horrocks and was part of IMG (Information Management Group, http://img.cs.man.ac.uk/) at the University of Manchester. During that time, I was supervised by Professor Ulrike Sattler and Bijan Parsia.

From April 2004 to October 2006, Francisco Martín-Recuerda was Project Manager and Researcher at Digital Enterprise Research Institute (now STI Innsbruck, http://www.sti-innsbruck.at/) which belongs to the University of Innsbruck (Austria) and is led by Professor Dieter Fensel. In DERI, Francisco was Managing Director of the NoE Knowledge Web (FP6-507482, http://knowledgeweb.semanticweb.org/), and researcher for several EU research projects like DIP (FP6 - 507483, http://dip.semanticweb.org/), SEKT  (FP-506826, http://www.sekt-project.com/), and TripCom (FP6 - 027324, http://www.tripcom.org).

From September to December 2005, Francisco Martín-Recuerda was visitor scholar at the Stanford Logic Group (http://logic.stanford.edu/) led by Professor Michael Genesereth.

From February 1996 to June 2001, Francisco Martín-Recuerda gained experience in Industry working as as Software Developer, Software Analyst and Project Manager in several companies like Riverland-Escador (now Agresso, http://www.agresso.com/), Promainsur (now Sadiel, http://www.sadiel.es/), La Caja de Ahorros de Canarias (http://www.lacajadecanarias.es/) and Iberia Airlines (http://www.iberia.com/).

Francisco graduated in Computer Science at the University of Granada (1995, Spain) and holds a Master degree in Artificial Intelligence (Knowledge Representation) at the University of Edinburgh (2003, UK). In Edinburgh, his Master Thesis was supervised by Professor David Robertson (Head of the School of Informatics of the University of Edinburgh, http://www.inf.ed.ac.uk/).

Francisco's research interests are related with Automated Reasoning, Description Logics, Semantic Web, Semantic Web Services, Knowledge Engineering (in particular, Ontology Engineering), and Knowledge Management. Francisco Martín-Recuerda has written more than 10 papers for international conferences and workshops. Francisco Martín-Recuerda has been reviewer of several international conferences (ISWC, ESWC, WWW, etc.) workshops and magazines (IEEE, Journal of Web Semantics, etc.).
