Jean-Paul Calbimonte is a researcher and PhD student in the Department of Artificial Intelligence at the Faculty of computer Science at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, and is a member of the Ontology Engineering Group since 2009.
His work is focused on data integration and Semantic Web, applied to streaming sensor data sources. His work addresses some of the emerging challenges of Streaming data processing and characterization for the Internet of Things, and the Semantic Sensor Web.

He has worked in EU FP7 projects SemsorGrid4Env and PlanetData in these areas and his works have been published in conferences and workshops including ISWC and ESWC. He also works on the Ciudad2020 and myBigData projects. He holds a MSc degree in Computer Science from Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland. He has been a research visitor at the University of Manchester and EPFL. He has also worked in the software industry, in the areas of data integration and database systems for medical and radiology information systems.
