Jhonny Saavedra is studying Master in Information Technologies at The Technical University of Madrid (UPM), faculty of Computer Sciences. Is part of the Ontology Engineering Group, developing his master thesis on the semantic web application in geographic data.

Previously held the specialty in Geographic Information Systems at the University of Bogotá getting Meritorious Thesis (2007) He worked at the Center for Research and Development of Geographic Information of the Geographic institute “Agustin Codazzi” (Colombia) in developing and implementing standards for Geographic Information and Spatial Data Infrastructures (2005-2008). In 2009 he worked on implementation of standards at the Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies of Colombia. His master studies in Spain has been carried out with the grants from the Colombian Institute of Credit and Technical Studies Abroad and the Ministry of Information Technology.

His main research interests are focused on semantic web, spatial data infrastructures and standardization of GIS.
