The Ontology Engineering Group (based in the Facultad de Informática, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid) research in the areas of Ontological Engineering, Natural Language Processing, Semantic Web, Semantic e-Science and the Real World Internet.

Some of the most important achievements obtained by the group in its fifteen years of life are: (a) Methontology and (b) NeOn Methodology, methodologies for creating ontologies and ontology networks, the latest one based on a set of scenarios that include the collaborative development of the ontology, reuse of ontological and non ontological resources, and the development and maintenance of the ontology network, (c) WebODE and NeOn Toolkit, tools for ontology development, (d) ODESeW, an ontology-based application that automatically generates and manages knowledge-based portals, (e) R2O, a language processing relational databases in RDF, and (f) WS-DAIOnt-RDF(S), a specification-oriented Ontology services for accessing RDF(S) in distributed environments, which is being standardized in the Open Grid Forum.

Currently, the Ontology Engineering Group is promoting the application of Linked Data in Spain within different contexts from several Organizations, such as Instituto Geográfico Nacional/Instituto Nacional de Estadística (GeoLinkedData), AEMET, Biblioteca Nacional, and Grupo Prisa Digital (El Viajero). Moreover, our group has developed a set of tools for generating and consuming Linked Data, such as NOR2O, ODEMapster, map4rdf, geometry2rdf, and sitemap4rdf.

Finally, the group has developed applications in a wide range of areas, including knowledge management, electronic commerce, and finance job search, geo-location, project management, R & D, media library management, etc.

The Ontology Engineering Group will deliver eight courses of continuous training of 1 ECTS each about Semantic Technologies and Linked Data starting from September, 2012. The whole information about each course is available here. The courses that will be held during June and July are:
